General
  • Attend the weekly meeting Wednesdays from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm
  • Have a cumulative GPA > 2.2 and a previous semester GPA > 2.0
  • Serve on at least one Student Senate Standing Committee
    • Service on Elections, Judicial Review, Senior Class, or Academic Affairs does not count toward this requirement
  • Hold office hours each week
  • Attend all Student Senate events
  • Perform all duties as assigned by the President
College Representative
  • Meet with the dean of their respective college at least twice per semester
  • Act as a liaison between their respective college, professional societies, organizations, and the Student Senate
  • Meet with the respective Major Representatives within their college
  • Perform all duties of all vacant positions within their respective college
Major Representatives
  • Major must align with what you will be representing
  • Hold a feedback session for the students of their respective major at least once a semester
  • Meet with the chairperson of their respective department at least twice a semester
  • Act as a liaison between their respective major, professional societies, organizations, and the Student Senate.
Class Presidents
  • Meet with the Athletic Department at least twice per semester.
  • Serve on the Public Relations Committee
  • Serve on the staff of the Nucleus as coordinator of their respective class section
  • Hold one social outreach event per academic year geared towards their respective class.
  • Hold one career advisement/leadership building related event per academic year geared toward their respective class.
  • Hold one Newark-based community service event per academic year geared towards their respective class
  • Write an article geared toward their respective class for both the fall and spring editions of the Student Senate Pride, with the exception of the Freshman Class President who will only be required to write an article for the Spring Edition
  • Fulfill the following position-specific requirements:
    • Senior Class President
      • Serve as the chairperson of the Senior Class Committee
      • Give the Spring Graduation Address
    • Freshman Class President
      • Meet with the Associate Dean for First Year Students at least twice per semester
Resident/Commuter Representatives
  • Act as a liaison between the Student Senate and their respective constituents
  • Hold a feedback session for their respective student body at least once per semester
Freshman Resident/Commuter Representatives
  • Act as a liaison between the Student Senate and their respective constituents
  • Hold a feedback session for their respective student body at least once per semester
  • Meet with the Associate Dean for First Year Students at least twice per semester
  • Check the Roster for Vacant Positions
